All NU alumni are invited to join the Northwestern Club of Chicago on March 18 for a special virtual presentation featuring Chicago-based Northwestern alumna Linda Gartz ’70, ’72 MAT, six-time Emmy-honored documentary producer, and author of the award winning book, Redlined: A Memoir of Race, Change, and Fractured Community in 1960s Chicago.
Redlined interweaves the history of the discriminatory federal government policy of redlining with a riveting family story inspired by her family’s archival trove of thousands of letters, diaries, photos, documents, and much more. The book delves into the family’s lives on Chicago’s West Side before, during, and after their neighborhood’s racial change and the impact of redlining on their community, still evident today.
Once you register, you’ll receive an email with a Zoom link to the event. Registration is $5, all of which will go to the Northwestern Club of Chicago’s scholarship fund, to benefit NU students from the Chicago area in need.
